LisTeN, 2021

The image I used in this artwork is a scanned fallen unknown flower which represent projected myself alienated, detached from my motherland. As the light of the scanner went through the object, I moved the object and it made another story to tell you by movement. I feel the image resonating the frequency of the things even they are still while acting as receptors. 

 

Movement makes sounds and connection. Connectivity can be possible when we start to give an attention to listening as a gesture of understanding and sharing. Relationship starts from the basic, listening as well. Therefore, I put major standard fourteen sounds of piano: perfect interval and major interval.

 

I manipulated the scanned image into bitmap image by photoshop. From 4 CMYK layers of the image, I selected Magenta and Cyan. Each images are engraved on wood using laser relief technique. 

 

From this work, I would like to deliver the message of value of listening and the audible image which playing mute sounds with still photo. Moreover, I would like to emphasize that spreading and sharing can be started from listening.
